SSRA TEAM ATHLETES TAKE FAST BLAST HONORS

SSRA took team honors in the SG and SL races at 49 Degrees North. Congratulations to everyone who contributed to this effort! Coming into the weekend, we trailed the team standings by almost 900 points. Now, the margin is less than 300! Go SSRA!

Individuals showed that they are not ready to give up, as three time reigning champions of the EEYSL team cup. Here are the results:

JUNIORS CHALLENGE COLLEGES IN NWCSC QUALIFIER

SSRA women were paced by McKinley Guenzel who finished 24th in each race. Jessica Berge notched a 28th & 20th place result. Kayla Uplinger scored a 29th and a 21st. Josie Ellison had a 22nd place finish on Saturday, while Maddie Ewers was close behind in 26th. Natalie Ellison took 29th in Sunday's race..

Vaughn Peck again led the men with a 15th and a 12th place slalom finish. Michael Ewers notched a 26th place finish on Saturday. Mat Bueckers was 36th and 40th.

JOSEPH ESTRELLA REPRESENTS SSRA AT J3 TOPOLINO SHOOTOUT

Joseph Estrella travelled to Park City, Utah to compete with some of the fastest J3's in the Western Region. The winner of the shootout goes to the Trofeo Topolino International Children's Race in Italy.

Congratulations to Joseph for the honor of being selected to this race based on 2009 J3 Junior Olympic results.

FIS JUNIORS COMPETE AT SCHWEITZER NORTHWEST CUPS

Dillon Bauernfeind finished 8th in the GS, and 15th and 7th in the two Super G's!

Josie Ellison put two runs together to noth a 35th place finish in a strong field.

VAUGHN PECK LEADS SSRA J3 ATHLETES IN JUNIOR OLYMPIC QUALIFIERS

Congratulations to Vaughn Peck, winner of Sunday's GS and Monday's SL. Vaughn was also 3rd in Saturday's GS. Joseph Estrella was 5th in Monday's SL. Michael Ewers was 13 in Saturday's GS (4th for 1996's) and 15th in Sunday's GS (6th for 1996's). Mat Bueckers was 41st and 70th in Saturday and Sunday's GS's respectively.

Taylor Bauernfeind was 9th in the slalom (4th 1996), 39th in Saturdays GS (25th 1996), and 44th (26th 1996) in Sundays GS. McKinley Guenzel was 26th in the Slalom (15th 1996), 32nd in Saturdays GS (20th 1996) and 34th in Sundays GS (19th 1996). Maddie Ewers was 30th in Saturdays GS (18th 1996) and 53rd in Sundays GS (32nd 1996). Kayla Uplinger was 36 in Saturdays GS (22nd 1996), 42nd in Sundays GS (24th 1996), and 49th in the slalom (29th 1996). Jessica Berge was 39th in the slalom and 63rd in Sundays GS. Natalie Ellison was 41st in the slalom (23rd 1996), 49th in Sundays GS (29th 1996), and 58th in Saturdays GS (36th 1996.)

SSRA ATHLETES PROVE THEIR POTENTIAL AT J3 JUNIOR OLYMPICS!

Dillon Bauernfeind led SSRA with a 10th in Super G, a 18th in Giant Slalom and a 25th in Slalom, amongst 95 J3 boys, at the Western Region J3 Junior Olympics at Bogus Basin. Sierra Schrankel led the SSRA women with a 7th in Slalom, 32nd in Super G and a 40th in Giant Slalom. Micki Kerl popped into the top 30 in Super G with a 26th while placing 46th in Slalom and 47th in Giant Slalom.

Congratulations to Dillon, Sierra and Micki!                       

Joe Estrella showed impressive results in the J4 Festival. He finished 5th in the Super G, 6th in the GS and 11th in the Slalom. Way to go, Joe!

  J3's QUALIFY FOR WESTERN REGION JUNIOR OLYMPICS

SSRA J3's (ages 13-14), Micki Kerl, Sierra Schrankel and Dillon Bauernfeind have qualified for the Western Region J3 Junior Olympics to be held at Bogus Basin, Idaho, March 21-24. Only 24 men and 25 women qualify for this prestigious event that draws athletes from 5 divisions and 10 western states. Congratulations to Micki, Sierra and Dillon, as well as the rest of the SSRA J3 team that will accompany them in championship races in the years to come!

Holiday Camp Giant Slalom Race Results- Women

SIERRA SCHRANKEL & DILLON BAUERNFEIND REPRESENT SSRA & PNSA IN THE WESTERN REGION TOPOLINO SHOOTOUT!

Congratulations to our champions who attended the prestigious event! Here are the results:

Sierra Schrankel 5th, 5th and 6th in SL's; 12th, 16th and 17th in GS's

Dillon Bauernfeind 10th in GS; 13th, 14th and 15th in SL's

Only 19 women and 22 men from the entire Western United Statescompete in this elite event. Many of the fastest J3's (13-14 year olds) raced head to head in slalom and giant slalom in Jackson, Wyoming from January 2-4. The winners travel to Topolino, Italy for the Trofeo Topolino International children's races. Also, three additional athletes are selected to attend a National Development System camp in Winter Park, CO.
