About the Team

The Spokane Ski Racing Association (SSRA) is a non-profit ski team for athletes 5 and up who want to become expert, all-mountain, life-long riders while having fun learning to compete in alpine ski racing competition. SSRA was established in 1960 and has a proud and successful history. However, excelling in skiing is only part of our mission. SSRA's programs help youth from the Spokane/Coeur d'Alene area develop important life skills. Values such as co-operation/teamwork, dedication, goal-orientation, hard work, health, honesty, persistence, positive attitude, punctuality and time-management are stressed. Through coach mentoring, each athlete's personal development is paramount. Most of all…SSRA is fun! Without a doubt, being part of the Spokane Ski Racing Association is the fastest and most fun way of becoming a great skier!

The Best in the Inland Northwest…A Tradition of Excellence

Every year, SSRA sends athletes to the Junior Olympics and top divisional/regional races. SSRA athletes have won gold medals and overall titles at these events in 1994, 1995, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2004 and 2006 against athletes from across the Pacific Northwest, Western Region and beyond. Alumni have been members of the US Ski Team, competitors in the X-Games and SSRA even produced a 4-time Skijoring National Champion.

Financial Operation

SSRA is a not-for-profit, 501-3C organization. Program fees pay for approximately 70% of our expenditures. The remainder of our budget is supplied by fundraising dollars, subsidizing tuition 30%. This subsidization comes in the form of club fundraising events (golf tournament and dinner/auction), donations and corporate sponsorship. Through community generosity, SSRA is able to offer a valuable service to kids throughout the Inland Northwest at affordable prices. And...all donations are tax-deductible!

Each year, SSRA hosts races incurring significant costs. This season, SSRA hosts a PNSA J3 Junior Olympic Qualifier, the Emerald Empire Youth Ski League Finals, the Team Cup Challenge and two Home Series races. It takes a lot of resources to provide 12 days of racing. To remain a state-of-the art, competitive and affordable program while hosting such events, SSRA needs your support!
