Introduction to Ski Racing (ages 5-11)

Click on the Registration button at the bottom of this page to begin the Registration process

The MSSRT Intro programs’ focus is on building fundamental skiing skills and skiing the whole mountain with confidence. In addition to directed free-skiing and exploring the mountain, this program exposes athletes to a variety of training environments. Our experienced coaching staff will introduce the athletes to ski racing while maintaining an emphasis on skill development and fun!

Athletes should be able to ski intermediate terrain. The athletes must be able to independently load the lift, use the restroom, and put on and take off their skis.

One pair all-mountain or junior race skis is sufficient. Powder skis and twin tips will inhibit skill development and are not recommended. Helmets, goggles and poles are required. Boots are the most important component of your equipment. It is very important that the athletes can flex the boots easily and that the boots are not too big. Oversized boots and boots that are too stiff are the most common constraints to skill development in young athletes. Our coaches and staff are available to answer equipment questions.

This is a 6-week program offered on Sundays from January 6th through February 10th.

Weekly emails will be sent detailing plans. Training begins at 9:00am, lunch with parents 11:30-12:30, and afternoon training from 12:30 - 2:30pm.

Athletes have the option to participate in the EEYSL (Emerald Empire Youth Ski League) race hosted by MSSRT at Mt Spokane. This race is scheduled for the weekend after the Intro program ends (Feb 16th – 17th). Athletes, 11 years old and younger, from throughout the Inland Northwest will participate in this race. Our Intro athletes will work with MSSRT  Intro and YSL coaches at this race. Race entry fees and US Ski and Snowboard membership are not included in program tuition.

As a non-profit volunteer based organization, parent volunteering is essential to providing a quality program for our athletes. Parents are required to volunteer 1 day at a MSSRT hosted race or event.
