MCCLELLAN QUALIFIES FOR U16 CHAMPS; FARLEY, SIMPSON, SCHEIDT GET NOD FOR CAN-AMS

February 24 (Spokane): Cole McCllelan was selected as one of 21 men to represent the Pacific Northwest Ski Association (Oregon,Washington/N. Idaho) in the 2015 Western Region U16 Championships. The event takes place March 18-22 at Mt. Bachelor in Bend, Oregon and brings together athletes from 11 western states. Jared Farley, Scot Simpson, and Hunter Scheidt were invited to represent PNSA in Canada at the U16 Can-Ams. "Congratulations to all of our U16 athletes; Cole, Jared, Scot and Hunter. Ski Racing is a lot of fun, and it takes a focused and sustained effort over time to be a really successful ski racer. All of the boys have worked hard since summer training camps and put in the time necessary to reach these goals. They are outstanding athletes and remarkable young men," said Chuck Holcomb, SSRA Executive Director/Head Coach. |

TEAM EXTENDS EEYSL LEAD AT LOOKOUT PASS
Feb. 21-22 (Lookout Pass)- SSRA hosted its annual Emerald Empire Youth Ski League races at Lookout Pass on February 21-22. It was an incredible effort as the SSRA membership pulled together to host a race away from Mt. Spokane. Special thanks go to Lookout Pass for their remarkable and unwaivering support! Thank you to all of the SSRA parents, alumni, sponsors, and coaches. Congratualations to the SSRA team for a remarkable two days of racing on "home away from home" soil!

Feb 16-21 (Bend, OR) The SSRA boys team travelled to Mt. Bachelor to compete in the second round of U16 Qualifiers Feb 16-18. The races, originally scheduled for Mt. Hood, were moved to Mt. Bachelor due to low snowpack. This race was the second and final series to determine which 21 men and 20 women will represent the Pacific Northwest Ski Association in the Western Region U16 Championships taking place March 18-22 at Mt. Bachelor, and the U16 Can-Ams taking place March 12-15 at Apex, BC, Canada. In the giant slalom, Jared Farley was tops for SSRA men with a 13th place finishing in 2:06.51 in a race won by CMAC's Devon Toribio in 2:00.53. Cole McClellan was 2nd for SSRA men in 22nd place in 2:03.53 followed by Hunter Scheidt in 30th (2:10.17) and Scot Simpson in 37th (2:13.16). In the first Super G, Cole McClellan was fast crossing the line in 26th place (8th U16). Flanking McClellan was Hunter Scheidt in 63rd (33rd U16) and Scot Simpson in 66th (36th). After the conclusion of the qualifiers, the Northwest Cup "Sun Cup" downhills took place at Mt. Bachelor. Jared Farley competed in both downhills finishing a very respectable 53rd and 62nd in his first competition in the discipline. Congratulations to the SSRA U16 men. |
